INDIANAPOLIS – The comedy duo of Eddie Curry and Jeff Stockberger take the stage in the regional premiere of Grumpy Old Men: The Musical at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre. Based on the popular film starring Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau, and Ann-Margaret, the stage adaptation opens for the first time at Beef & Boards on Saturday.
Max and John are aging neighbors who have been feuding for most of their lives. Invigorated by their shared affection for their new neighbor across the street, the beautiful, eccentric, and charming Ariel, they face off as romantic rivals until their hilarious shenanigans finally bring about a resolution to their long-standing differences. This stage adaptation of the 1993 film captures the lovably crotchety characters through twinkling humor, great songs, and the affectionate depiction of a small town that feels like home to everyone.
Eddie Curry plays the role of John Gustafson, a retired history teacher, and Jeff Stockberger plays Max Goldman, a retired TV repairman. Sarah Hund (An American in Paris, Footloose, The Addams Family) returns to the Beef & Boards stage to star as Ariel Truax, their new neighbor and love interest. Joining them in the cast
are Jacob Butler (Kinky Boots, A Christmas Carol, Footloose) as Max’s son Jacob Goldman, Logan Hill (Beauty and the Beast, Footloose, The Addams Family) as John’s daughter Melanie Norton, Devan Mathias (Mary Poppins, Kinky Boots) as tax collector Sandra Snyder, and Douglas E. Stark (It’s A Wonderful Life, Little Shop of Horrors, Elf) as John’s father “Grandpa” Gustafson.
