Doughty, Carlisle head all county team
Senior Zane Doughty was named Marion County boys basketball player of the year and coach Don Carlisle was named the Marion County coach of the year by Marion County coaches Tuesday.
Doughty leads the Ben Davis boys with 13.3 points and 9.4 rebounds a game while Carlisle has the No. 1 Giants sporting a 30-0 record heading into Saturday’s semistate.
Joining Doughty on the first team is senior guard Sheridan Sharp. Third-team honors went to senior guard Clay Butler and senior forward Shaun Arnold while junior guard KJ Windham and sophomore guard Mark Zachery earned an honorable mention.
The Giants have been rated No. 1 since early December and face Bloomington North at noon Saturday in the second game of the New Castle semistate.
Brownsburg faces Jennings County in the 10 a.m. opener with the winners returning for the 8 p.m. championship.
Doughty had previously been named the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference player of the year.
