No. 1 Giants open with Southport
Ben Davis completes regular season with 26-0 record
The Class 4A No. 1 rated Ben Davis Gants will open the boys basketball state tournament against Southport, a team the Giants have beaten twice this season.
Ben Davis (26-0) will play Southport (14-9) in the second game Wednesday at Perry Meridian. In Tuesday’s opener of Class 4A Sectional 11, Roncalli (9-13) will play Decatur Central (11-10) at 7 p.m. Wednesday’s first game pits Franklin Central (3-18) against host Perry Meridian (4-17) while Pike (15-8) drew the bye and will play in Friday’s opening game.
In other sectionals involving west side teams, Avon (10-13) will play Terre Haute South (14-10) in Tuesday’s opening game at Plainfield. Brownsburg (18-4) will play Terre Haute North (15-9) in Friday’s opening game followed by Plainfield (17-6) vs. Tuesday’s winner.
In sectional 10 at Warren Central, Crispus Attucks (16-8) plays Tech (9-13) in Wednesday’s second game.
In Class 3A sectional 28, Indianapolis Washington (5-17) plays Purdue Polytechnic (17-6) in Tuesday’s opening game while Speedway (3-18) plays host Christel House (12-9) in the second game. Cardinal Ritter (10-12) plays in the first game Friday.
In Class 2A sectional 43, Covenant Christian (14-9) plays Park Tudor in Friday’s first game at Cascade.
