Making that deep breath worth it. Senior Kaden Jackson-Dietzer and his teammates on the Speedway boys swimming team start sectional competition Thursday at Brownsburg.

Will this be the season that seniors Brock Schall and Kaden Jackson-Dietzer advance to the IHSAA state swimming championships? That question will be answered this week when the two senior standouts join their teammates at the Brownsburg
Swimming Sectional.

Fourteen teams will gather at Brownsburg for the preliminary competition races beginning Thursday. Sixteen swimmers will advance in each event, split evenly between the consolation races and the championship races on Saturday afternoon. The
winner of each event, along with any state qualifying time competitors will advance to the state championship meet next weekend at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis.

Schall has the fastest time in the 50 free for all sectional competitors entering this week’s competition. Schall currently holds three school records (200 medley relay, 100 fly, 50 free) and is also close in the 100 free. Schall will compete in the 50 free and 100 free along with two relays at the sectional.

Jackson-Dietzer set the school record for the 500 free during his Senior Night race last month. He is also within a second of the 200 free and 100 back school records and is seeded highly in both events entering this week’s competition.
